I discovered this lovely trad. Irish tune a number of years ago, while preparing to perform with The Chieftains. Sadly their harpist, the fabulous Derek Bell, had died quite suddenly, shortly before a major US tour. The Chieftains invited a handful of US harpers and harpists to perform with them during this tour - and yes, I was one of the players invited. What a thrill that was then and a wonderful memory now!

So, I was listening to and playing along with their recordings to prepare for this amazing opportunity and came upon this beautiful tune - and fell in love with it. At the time I was working often with a wonderful flautist/whistle player, Sue Grimm Hanley. We created and recorded this lovely, atmospheric arrangement of Samhradh, Samhradh.

I hope you will thoroughly enjoy listening.
